The Australian Dental Association (ADA) recommends that children under 18 years of age attend a dental check-up every 6 to 12 months. With tooth decay in children remaining a significant health concern across Australia—where the average child aged 5–10 years has more than one tooth that is decayed, missing, or filled—regular preventative care is essential.
Why Regular Visits Matter
Keeping your child’s teeth and gums healthy protects them against infection, cavities, and pain. Decayed baby teeth can potentially damage the developing adult teeth underneath. If a child loses a tooth prematurely due to decay, it may lead to spacing or crowding problems when their adult teeth emerge.
Our goal is to help your child establish excellent oral health habits that will stay with them for life. By scheduling regular visits, we can monitor their development, provide early intervention, and ensure their smile grows healthy and strong.
Is My Child Eligible for the CDBS?
The Medicare Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) provides up to $1,095 in benefits over two consecutive calendar years for basic dental services. Your child may be eligible if:
- They are aged under 18 years.
- They are eligible for Medicare.
They or their parent/guardian receive a relevant Australian Government payment (such as Family Tax Benefit Part A, Parenting Payment, or Carer Payment) at least once during the calendar year.
